A guided walking holiday based in West Highlands of Scotland where the landscapes are spectacular. We stay in the beautiful area of Arisaig on the west coast. Highlights of this hiking tour include a day on the Isle of Skye, spectacular trekking around Loch Morar, Loch Moidart, Castle Tioram and Loch Nevis and an ascent of Ben Nevis. Unforgettable highland landscapes combine with dramatic views across the water to the isles of Rum, Eigg, Skye and Canna. The famous Glenfinnan Monument is en route to Arisaig, and just beyond are the beautiful Silver Sands at Morar, as featured in the film "Local Hero". Option to travel on the world famous West Highland Railway, which stops at Arisaig station.

We stay 6 nights at Arisaig House (top picture), a family run guest house overlooking  the Sound of Arisaig, with stunning views towards the Western Isles. The house dates back to 1864 and here you can enjoy freshly prepared seasonal meals (using home grown produce), picnic lunches, homemade treats and the chance to really put your feet up after a good walk. Local specialities include lobster, scallops, crab, fresh salmon and oysters. Venison, game and hill lamb are also available when in season.

Highlights of the Week

  • We visit the nearby Isle of Skye, and enjoy a spectacular coastal walk, visiting the Quiraing on the Troternish Ridge.
  • We include on our itinerary Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, a stretching climb of 1400 meters from sea level on a good path, and also its neighbours, Aonach Mor, Aonoach Beag and Carn Mor Dearg from which superlative views of the Ben Nevis North face can be gained.
  • A spectacular walk around Loch Morar, the deepest freshwater Loch in Europe. We visit the isolated hamlet of Tarbet, from where we catch the ferry back  to Mallaig.

  • A scenic boat trip up the narrows of Loch Nevis, the deepest seawater loch in Europe, to spot marine and land wildlife.
  • Visit to  Castle Tioram, romantically situated on the shores of Loch Moidart. followed by a walk over Beinn Bhreac.
  • Option to visit the Isle of Eigg. Lying 10 miles off the west coast, this small island is rich in history and wildlife.
  • Option to travel on the famous "Jacobite" Steam train. The journey from Mallaig to Fort William is described as one of the best railway journeys in the world!
