Ornithological Walk 22 May

Our Berwickshire Coast Day Walk on 22 May was a great success with spectacular weather. The sea was so calm you could see far below the surface when standing on the cliff tops above. Richard Watt, our leader and ornithological expert, shared his indepth knowledge on the wide variety of bird life around St. Abbs Harbour. Richard spotted no less than 47 species of  birds and the full list click on this link to our Berwickshire Coast page.

Catholic Chaplaincy Sponsored Walk 5 June

Buttercup Meadow

The Catholic University Caplaincy sponsored walk was a great success with 21 walkers raising money for a new Chapel in the Edinburgh University Chaplaincy in George Square. Our route took us past Dryburgh Abbey and along the banks of the River Tweed.

On Bemersyde Hill

From there we climbed Bemersyde Hill and enjoyed spectacular views to famous Borders landmarks including the Cheviot, the Waterloo Monument, Rubers Law, the Leaderfoot Viaduct, Smailholm Tower, and of course the Eildon Hills.  We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day and the river Tweed provided much needed relief from the heat of the afternoon.  Our day ended with a welcome visit to the award winning Mainstreet Trading Company a wonderful combination of a tearoom and bookshop.
