OUR ITINERARY

Day 1  We depart Edinburgh and drive west to the Isle of Skye via Perth, Dalwhinnie, The Great Glen, Glen Shiel  and Eilean Donan Castle.  There are en route stops to admire the magnificent scenery.  We cross the Skye Road Bridge and arrive at our hotel with time to settle in before dinner. We will spend all 6 nights here.

Day 2  Day Trip to the Quiraing, a stunning rock formation sculpted out of the Trotternish Ridge, containing rocks which are millennia old. We visit the fabled “Prison,”  “Needle,” and the hidden “Table” which few visitors here ever see. 4 -5 hours walk.

Day 3  A fabulous coastal walk to MacLeod’s Maidens, a stunning rock formation . En route we see a mini version of the famous octagonal basalt stacks for which the Island of Staffa is famed and (weather permitting) have a fabulous vantage point of the west side of the Cuillin.  4-5 hour walk .

Day 4  We Visit Dunvegan Castle, family seat of the Macleod Clan. The castle is a place of rare highland beauty and tranquillity and has lovely walks though its wooded gardens. Afterwards we take a short trip north along the coast to visit the beautiful Coral Beaches and the headland at Dunvegan. Easy strolling 1-3 hours optional.

Day 5  We travel to the remote fishing port of Elgol and take a small ferry into the southern heartland of the Cuillin, to Loch Coruisk. We may see dolphins, whales and seals. We return to Elgol by way of  Camasuinary Bay. 5-6 hours.

Day 6  . We travel down Glen Brittle to take the path round the south west end of the Cuillin, and head for the remote Coire na Grunnda which looks out over the islands to the south of Skye.  5-6 hours.

Day 7  We return to Edinburgh this time by way of Fort William and Glen Coe and, if time permits, we walk up to the Lost Valley in Glen Coe.  4 hours.
